Automated Parking for Urban Hotels: PARKTEC Yanchun Hotel Project

At the Yanchun Hotel project in Shijiazhuang, vehicles can be seen parked on multiple levels behind the garage's glass facade. Ground-level vehicle handover entrances connect to parking positions on different floors through internal lifting and transfer equipment. The street-facing entrances and the parking bays above them form the spatial layout of the project.

This is an application of PARKTEC automated parking systems for hotels and urban commercial facilities. From vehicle arrival and handover to storage and retrieval, PARKTEC uses mechanical equipment to move vehicles within the garage, making use of the building's vertical space for parking.

Parking facilities connected to hotel and commercial space

Parking demand at an urban hotel is closely related to how the building is used. Overnight stays, dining and business visits involve different lengths of stay, while parking access needs to coordinate with hotel drop-off areas, nearby roads and pedestrian movement. In a compact urban setting, a parking solution must address not only where vehicles are stored, but also how they enter and leave.

The Yanchun Hotel project demonstrates a multi-level approach: vehicles are handed over at ground level, parking positions are arranged above, and equipment connects the handover and storage areas. The entrances serve vehicle handover, while the internal space accommodates vehicle storage, linked by the automated system.

Coordinating ground-level handover and internal vehicle transfer

The project footage shows the operating terminal, vehicle entry, internal lifting and transfer, and vehicle retrieval. Once a vehicle enters the handover area, equipment performs the subsequent movements inside the garage. During retrieval, the system returns the vehicle to the handover area.

Drivers interact with the parking system mainly at ground level, while mechanical equipment moves vehicles between parking levels. The handover positions, lifting channel and parking bays work together as a coordinated operating space.

Turning building height into multi-level parking space

Inside the garage, the arrangement of steel-framed parking levels and the lifting channel becomes clearer. Vehicles occupy bays at different heights, while equipment lifts, transfers and positions them between the handover area and the relevant parking bays.

This layout extends parking beyond a single plane to multiple levels. For urban hotels, arranging bays within the available building volume provides another way to use space for parking. System design also considers vehicle dimensions, equipment operating space, structural connections and maintenance access, coordinating vehicle storage with equipment movement.
